Today, Rep. Thomas Kutz (R-Cumberland) and the House Republican Policy Committee, led by Chairman Josh Kail (R-Beaver/Washington), held a hearing to discuss policies aimed at bolstering Pennsylvania's economy and supporting families.

The event, titled “Pathways to Prosperity: Igniting Growth Through Pro-Family Policies,” included testimonies from David Samella, plant manager at Vitro Architectural Glass; Ryan Heishman, CEO of Allen Distribution; Aaron Riggleman, manager of government affairs at PA Chamber of Business and Industry; and Mark Blanchard, superintendent of Cumberland Valley School District.

The panelists highlighted several key factors necessary for Pennsylvania's prosperity. These include public-private partnerships, economic opportunities, and an affordable cost of living. They also agreed that excessive bureaucracy hinders opportunities. As Heishman noted in his testimony, while Pennsylvania's business climate is strong, it is hampered by cumbersome processes and agencies.

“Today’s hearing shined a spotlight on the need to advance policies that are pro-business, pro-jobs and pro-families,” said Kutz. “By prioritizing legislation that meets these goals, we can make communities across the Commonwealth even better places to live, work and raise a family. I remain committed to creating a thriving economic environment for all Pennsylvanians, and it was an honor to feature the 87th District in this important discussion.”

“One thing I am certain of – we should not be talking about Pennsylvania competing. We should be talking about Pennsylvania dominating,” said Kail. “Making people dependent upon government is not helping. We need to get Harrisburg out of the way and lift burdensome bureaucracy so we can encourage growth and economic development for Pennsylvania and get the Commonwealth to reach its greatest potential.”
