FOIA Request Sent to Cumberland County Election Department Regarding Voting Machines Testing Report on October 30, 2024

FOIA Request to Cumberland County Election Department Regarding Voting Machines Pre-Election Test Report on October 30, 2024.

In a recent move towards transparency and accountability in the electoral process, we at Cumberland Valley News have sent a request under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, 65 §66.1 et seq., to the Cumberland County Election Department.

Our request pertains specifically to the pre-election testing of voting machines used in the county's elections. We have asked for this information in a PDF format that includes specific details such as the test date, machine manufacturer, machine model number, and machine status (whether it passed or failed).

As an organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe access to these public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

We have also requested a fee waiver as media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. As always, our goal is to keep our readers informed about significant events and processes that impact their lives directly.

The move comes amid growing concerns about election integrity across the country. By obtaining and analyzing these records, we hope to contribute to a better understanding of how our elections are conducted and assure voters of their reliability.

We await a response from the Cumberland County Election Department and will continue our work in bringing you transparent and reliable news about your local government.
