State Representative Barbara Gleim | Pennsylvania 199th Legislative District
Rep. Barb Gleim (R-Cumberland) is set to host a dedication ceremony for the SFC Randall Shughart Memorial Bridge on May 30, 2024. The bridge, which carries PA Route 641 over Big Spring Creek at the border of Newville Borough and West Pennsboro Township, will be dedicated in honor of Shughart under Act 17 of 2023.
SFC Randall Shughart died during a rescue operation on October 3, 1993, during the Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his service.
The event will feature Rep. Gleim, Congressman Scott Perry, Sen. Greg Rothman, and members of SFC Shughart's family. The ceremony will take place at American Legion Post 421 located at 28 Shepherd Road in Newville at 10 a.m.
