Grant funding totaling over $148,000 has been awarded to nine first responder companies serving the 87th Legislative District. This funding is part of the PA Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, as announced by Representative Thomas Kutz (R-Cumberland).
The program, managed by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC), supports projects such as facility construction or renovation, equipment purchase or repair, training, and debt reduction.
"The dollars from these grants will help ensure our firefighters and EMS personnel have the equipment to do their job safely and effectively," stated Kutz. "These men and women, many of whom are volunteers, work hard to serve and protect our communities. I am glad to see investments being made in such a critical part of our communities across the 87th District."
The recipients of these grants include Citizens Fire Co. No. 1 of Mount Holly Springs ($27,891), Lisburn Community Fire Company ($13,955), Lower Allen Township EMS ($15,000), Lower Allen Township Fire Department ($15,676), Monroe Fire Co. ($16,332), New Kingstown Fire Co. ($16,106), Silver Spring Ambulance and Rescue Association ($15,000), Upper Allen Township Fire Department ($13,309), and Yellow Breeches EMS ($15,000).
Funding for these grants is derived from slot machine gaming proceeds rather than General Fund tax revenue. The grant amounts depend on recipients filing their agreements with the Office of State Fire Commissioner.
