State Reps. Sheryl M. Delozier (R-88) and Thomas Kutz (R-87) along with Sen. Greg Rothman (R-34) have announced a community-wide document shredding event for residents of Hampden or Silver Spring townships. The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 11, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Kohl’s parking lot at 6444 Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg.

Delozier emphasized the importance of safely disposing of sensitive information, stating, “It’s time to do some spring cleaning, making it a great time to safely dispose of documentation containing private and personal information that could be used by fraudsters looking to obtain passwords, Social Security numbers and other sensitive information.”

Rothman expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration, stating, “We are pleased to be working with Hampden and Silver Spring townships again this year. This event will help residents of both townships protect themselves against identity theft by providing a safe, secure, and convenient way to dispose of personal files.”

Residents are encouraged to participate in this free service, with a limit of five boxes and/or bags per household. Certain items such as paper that has already been shredded, three ring binders, plastic, carbon paper, metal, food wrappers, and blueprints will not be accepted at the event.

The initiative is supported by Pennsylvania American Water, Waste Management, Westy’s Beer Distributor, and Cumberland Valley Insurance. For further inquiries about the event, individuals can contact Delozier’s office at 717-761-4665, Kutz’s office at 717-975-2235, or Rothman’s office at 717-787-1377.

Residents of the specified townships are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to safely dispose of sensitive documents and protect themselves from potential identity theft.
