Shippensburg University earns 2023 PSAC Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field Coaching Staff of the Year awards

Shippensburg University was named the recipient of the 2023 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men's Indoor Track & Field Coaching Staff of the Year award and the 2023 PSAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Coaching Staff of the Year award on Thursday afternoon.
 
Voting is conducted by the league's head coaches.
 
The Shippensburg University staff is led by head coach Dave Osanitsch, the 2023 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Atlantic Region Men's Indoor Head Coach of the Year and the 2023 USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Women's Coach of the Year.
 
Osanitsch is assisted by Steve Spence (mid-distance/distance), Doug Knol (sprints/hurdles), Alison Freas (throws), Tyler Hewitt (throws), Kurt Dunkel (throws), Sarah Hewitt (jumps) and Liam Hafner (jumps).
 
Shippensburg won its 12th straight PSAC men's indoor track & field championship, scoring eight or more points in 10 of the 17 events at the conference meet. SU finished atop the Atlantic Region rankings with 21 performances among the region's Top 10 in an event, including a Top 5 performance in 10 different events. Heptathlete Mason Boyd recorded PRs in all seven of his events at the PSAC Championships en route to winning a conference title and breaking the all-time PSAC record in the event. National qualifier Drew Dailey broke the all-time PSAC record in the 800 meters and qualified for the NCAA Championships as the No. 9 seed.
 
On the women's side, Shippensburg won its first conference title since 2018, scoring in 14 of 17 events at the PSAC Championships and scoring five or more points in 10 events just one season removed from finishing sixth at the conference meet. Among the many notable standout performers was sprinter Leah Graybill, who improved her school record in the 200 meters and earned All-America honors with a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Championships. Others of note include PSAC Championships Outstanding Field Athlete and NCAA long jump qualifier Sara McKean and pentathlon conference champion Nicola Pugge.
