RECAP: Women’s Soccer secures win in final road match at Mansfield, 3-2

The Shippensburg University women's soccer team defeated Mansfield, 3-2, in its last road match of the regular season Wednesday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match at Mansfield.

Shippensburg (6-6-5, 5-5-5 PSAC East) took the lead early in the first half with a goal from graduate Imogen Longcake.

The Raiders extended their lead shortly after when senior Alyse Caffrey found the back of the net. Caffrey remained in the mix less than one minute after when she found sophomore Olivia Stephen for her first goal as a Raider and gaining a 3-0 Shippensburg advantage.

Mansfield (2-14-2, 0-14-2) scored off a penalty kick from Katelyn Rueppel to put the Mounties on the board going into halftime.

The Mounties put themselves back in the game midway through the second half with another goal from Rueppel, cutting the Raider lead 3-2, but Shippensburg held on for the victory.

Shippensburg posted a 13-5 advantage with shots on goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Morgan Molyneaux recorded three saves in the contest.

The Raiders are back at David See Field at 3 p.m. Saturday vs. Bloomsburg for its final game of the regular season.
