Rep. Thomas Kutz of Cumberland announced that six schools within the 87th District have been awarded grants by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency's School Safety and Security Committee. The funds are intended to enhance school safety and mental health support, further supporting the education provided in Cumberland County.

"Ensuring the safety and well-being of students, administrators, faculty, and staff at our local schools is absolutely critical," said Kutz. "These awards will help update facilities to meet those goals. I’m happy to see these grant dollars, which will have a direct benefit to our students, be awarded in the community."

The schools receiving grants include:

- Carlisle Area School District: $195,904

- Cumberland Perry Area Career and Technical School: $70,000

- Cumberland Valley School District: $285,395
