FOIA Request Sent to Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Regarding Arrest Records on October 22, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office in Pennsylvania on October 22, 2024. The request was made by us at Cumberland Valley News, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

We are seeking all arrest records from January 1, 2024, to the present day under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, 65 §66.1 et seq. We have specifically requested these records in an electronic format for ease of access and analysis.

The data points we have asked for include arrestee name, sex, race, age, date of birth (DOB), citizenship status, booking ID, date of arrest, booking photo, names of arresting officers, type of crime committed, location of the crime and the date when the crime occurred.

As a media organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe that access to such records is crucial for our work. It allows us to provide our readers with comprehensive information about law enforcement activities in their community.

We have also stated our eligibility for a fee waiver as a media professional involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. This is part of our ongoing commitment to ensure that important information remains accessible and affordable.

We await a response from the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office regarding this request.
