Senator Rothman announces over $6 million in state funding across three counties

State Senator Greg Rothman has announced the allocation of over $6.2 million in funding for various local and municipal projects within Pennsylvania's 34th Senatorial District, which includes Cumberland, Dauphin, and Perry counties. The funding aims to support infrastructure, safety, emergency response, recreational access, and educational initiatives.

“Cumberland, Dauphin, and Perry counties continue to experience growth, which both attracts–and requires–investment,” Rothman stated. He expressed satisfaction with securing funds that will benefit local communities through these significant projects.

In Cumberland County, South Middleton Township Municipal Authority is set to receive $90,000 for hydrogeologic planning to develop a water supply master plan. Silver Spring Township will be allocated $600,000 for constructing a new building for its public works division. Additionally, the Cumberland Area Economic Development Corporation will receive $101,840 to establish access to the historic Junkin House.

Other projects in Cumberland County include funding for Shippensburg University Foundation’s lab equipment updates ($323,381), Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department’s communication system upgrades ($300,000), and South Newton Township’s culvert replacements on Big Pond Road ($256,849). Wormleysburg Borough will update its sanitary sewer system with $597,022 in funding.

The Letort Regional Authority is awarded $331,834 for reconstructing footbridges in South Middleton Township. Newville Water and Sewer Authority receives $848,250 for additional water tank construction and booster upgrades. North Middleton Township Police Department is granted $157,275 for new patrol vehicles.

Rothman thanked Representatives Thomas Kutz, Barb Gleim, Torren Ecker, and Sheryl Delozier for their advocacy efforts on behalf of these projects. “These projects are vitally important to our growing community,” said Kutz.

In Dauphin County's Washington Township receives $250,000 for purchasing a new truck equipped for winter maintenance tasks. Rothman acknowledged State Rep. Joe Kerwin's partnership in advocating these funds.

Perry County also benefits from this round of grants: Perry County Community Fair Association receives $872,301 for fairground infrastructure improvements; Tyrone Township gets $747,000 towards constructing an EMS training center; Penn Township Municipal Authority secures $5520K replacing water service lines; Marysville Borough is awarded nearly 230K acquiring municipal dump truck supporting road maintenance activities
