State Representative Barb Gleim has announced the allocation of $848,250 for the Newville Water and Sewer Authority. This funding comes from the state's Local Share Account (LSA) program. Gleim emphasized her advocacy for this financial support, stating, "I advocated strongly for this funding, which was also supported by Senator Rothman, in order to ensure safe and efficient service by the authority to its customers."

The grant will be directed towards constructing a water tank and upgrading boosters in West Pennsboro Township. The LSA funds are designated for covering construction, engineering, and administrative expenses. Importantly, the financing of the LSA program is sourced from the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act rather than taxpayer money.

Gleim noted that as local communities expand, infrastructure often struggles to keep up due to financial constraints. She highlighted that grant programs like the LSA provide necessary funding for essential community projects: “Our local communities continue to grow, and our infrastructure is often not able to keep pace due to financial challenges. Grant programs, like the LSA, provide the funding needed for critical community projects to be completed.”
