HARRISBURG - Hidden Creek Park, located in Silver Spring Township, is set to receive a grant of $209,530 from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) under the Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program (GTRP). The announcement was made by Rep. Thomas Kutz (R-Cumberland) on Tuesday.
The grant money will be used to enhance the park's usability and appeal to the Silver Spring community. One of the key improvements will be the transformation of an unpaved trail into a paved one. This will make it more accessible and enjoyable for visitors. In addition, new pickleball courts will be installed, catering to the growing popularity of the sport. The grant will also fund the installation of new benches along the planned, newly paved trail.
"I am thrilled to see Hidden Creek Park receive this funding to improve an already fantastic part of the Silver Spring community," said Rep. Kutz. "It is important to make sure that our community spaces are enjoyable for all ages, and with this funding, Hidden Creek Park will become a more vibrant and inviting community space for the citizens of Silver Spring Township."
The CFA, established in 2004, is an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. Its role is to administer the Commonwealth's economic stimulus packages.
This grant is a significant investment in the improvement of Hidden Creek Park, which will benefit the residents of Silver Spring Township. The paved trail, pickleball courts, and new benches will enhance the park's amenities and provide a more enjoyable outdoor experience for visitors of all ages.
Rep. Kutz's announcement highlights the importance of community spaces and the need to continuously improve and invest in them. Hidden Creek Park will undoubtedly become a more vibrant and attractive destination for the citizens of Silver Spring Township, thanks to this funding.
