HARRISBURG – Representative Barb Gleim (R-Cumberland) has announced the allocation of over $2.7 million in state grants for various projects in the 199th Legislative District. The grants are aimed at funding sewer and water infrastructure, as well as arts and culture initiatives.
"This grant funding is essential for the health and growth of our communities," said Gleim. "Ensuring residents have safe and reliable water and sewer services, as well as access to enriching cultural programs, are important components to every community, which is why I advocated for this funding."
The grants, awarded through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), will support several projects in the district. South Middleton Township Municipal Authority will receive $1.75 million for the construction of the Well No. 1 Water Tank in South Middleton Township, Cumberland County. The Borough of Carlisle will be granted $520,000 for the rehabilitation of its Regional Sanitary Sewer System pipes near the Ridge Street Wastewater Pumping Station. Additionally, the Newburg-Hopewell Joint Authority will receive $420,750 for the rehabilitation of sewer mains within Newburg Borough.
In addition to the infrastructure projects, two arts and culture organizations will also benefit from the grants. The Carlisle Arts Learning Center will receive $18,615 for its operating expenses, while the Carlisle Regional Performing Arts Center will be granted $16,304 to assist with its operating expenses.
The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. Its purpose is to administer the Commonwealth's economic stimulus packages.
Representative Barb Gleim expressed her satisfaction with the grants, emphasizing the importance of these investments for the community. "Ensuring that our districts have access to proper infrastructure and cultural programs is crucial for their growth and well-being," she said.
The grants will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in the 199th Legislative District. With improved water and sewer services, communities will experience increased safety and reliability. Furthermore, the support for arts and culture organizations will contribute to the enrichment and vibrancy of the district.
These grants demonstrate the commitment of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to prioritize the development and improvement of local communities. Representative Gleim's dedication to securing these funds highlights her advocacy for the needs of her constituents.
