The Shippensburg University field hockey team earned the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic Region and the No. 2 seed overall in the 2022 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championships as the tournament field was announced Monday afternoon via an online selection show.
As the second seed, Shippensburg (15-3) earned a first-round bye and an automatic bid into the NCAA Semifinals. The Raiders will await the winner of the NCAA Quarterfinal matchup between No. 3 West Chester (14-4) and No. 6 Adelphi (13-8). That game will be played Sunday at West Chester at 1 p.m.
The 2022 PSAC Field Hockey Champions, East Stroudsburg (18-2) earned the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye into the NCAA Semifinals. They await the winner of No. 4 Assumption (14-5) and No. 5 St. Anselm (14-6). That game will be played Sunday at Assumption at 1 p.m.
Shippensburg advances to the NCAA Tournament for the 16th time in school history. SU is 16-10 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, including five national championships (2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021).
The 2022 NCAA Division II National Championship Semifinals and Championship Game will be played at Renton Memorial Stadium at Tukwila, WA for the NCAA Division II Fall Festival. The semifinal games are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on December, 1 and the championship game is set for 10 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3. All games will air on NCAA.com.
