RECAP: Women’s Soccer notches 3-1 victory over Mansfield

The Shippensburg women's soccer team came out on top as it defeated Mansfield Wednesday evening, 3-1, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match at David See Field.

The match started off slow for both teams until the 29th minute when Shippensburg (3-4-2, 3-3-2 PSAC East) junior Anna Stoner stole the ball at the top of the box and netted her first career goal, giving the Raiders a 1-0 lead.

The Raiders held a 1-0 lead going into halftime.

Mansfield (2-7-1, 0-7-1) gained momentum less than two minutes into the second half with a goal from Emily Smith to tie the game.

The Raiders answered shortly after as freshman Makayla Agosto split two Mountaineer defenders for her first goal of her career, regaining the lead for the Raiders, 2-1.

At the 72:37 mark the Mountaineers committed a foul inside the box setting up a penalty kick for the Raiders. Sophomore Jenna Folmar converted the kick for her first goal of the season to secure the 3-1 victory.

The Raiders fired eight shots on goal to Mansfield's four. Junior goalkeeper Kendra Barlow was credited with three saves in the contest.

Shippensburg will be back in action 1 p.m. this Saturday on the road against Kutztown.
