Rep. Scott Perry, U.S. Congressman representing Pennsylvania’s 10th district since 2013, posted a series of statements on his official X account on September 30, 2025, criticizing Senate Democrats and defending the actions of House Republicans regarding government funding negotiations.

In a post made at 20:00 UTC, Perry wrote: “Sen. Schumer is extorting Americans for $1.5 TRILLION – for illegal alien healthcare and insurance company bailouts. Nobody agreed to this. Nobody asked for this. Nobody wants this.”

Later that evening at 21:33 UTC, he commented on the actions of House Democrats during recent budget discussions: “With one exception, every single House Democrat voted to shut down the government over a CLEAN 7-week spending bill that consists of all spending the Democrats previously approved. HUH?!”

At 23:21 UTC, Perry stated that the House had fulfilled its responsibilities in passing a funding bill ahead of the deadline: “The House did its work. We passed a funding bill and sent it to the Senate with ample time before the funding deadline – period.”

Scott Perry has represented Pennsylvania’s 10th District in Congress since succeeding Todd Platts in 2013 and previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2007 to 2012. Born in San Diego in 1962 and currently residing in Dillsburg, Perry graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1991.
