Rep. Scott Perry, who represents Pennsylvania’s 10th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of tweets addressing the ongoing government shutdown and his views on Democratic actions during the negotiations.

On October 14, 2025, Perry announced an upcoming event, stating, “SCHUMER SHUTDOWN TELE-TOWN HALL: At 5:00PM EST, I’ll join several of my House Freedom Caucus colleagues to answer your questions on the Shutdown. You won’t want to miss…”

The following day, on October 15, Perry criticized Democrats for their approach to government funding, writing, “Democrats are holding the government hostage for $1.5 TRILLION, not for ‘bipartisan negotiations’ or whatever they want to call it. Essential services threatened, airports delayed, and federal workers furloughed – unless the Left’s wildest demands are met. This is theater and”

On October 16, Perry continued his criticism, stating, “The Democrats have voted to shut the government down 9 TIMES – and are proud of it. Meanwhile, they’re calling the President’s efforts to pay our Troops illegal – while they keep the government shut down (again), and refuse to pass the clean, bipartisan funding bill. Insanity.”

Perry has served in Congress since 2013 after succeeding Todd Platts and previously held a seat in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2007 to 2012. Born in San Diego in 1962 and currently residing in Dillsburg, Perry earned his bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1991.

The current government shutdown has resulted in delayed services at airports and furloughs for federal workers, with both parties exchanging blame over funding demands and legislative action.
