State legislators announced funding for several projects aimed at improving life in Cumberland County. Senators Dawn Keefer and Greg Rothman, along with Representatives Nate Davidson, Sheryl Delozier, Torren Ecker, Barb Gleim, and Thomas Kutz, revealed the allocation of funds that target safety enhancements, recreational opportunities, and infrastructure maintenance. Rothman highlighted the community benefits of the funding, stating it will help in maintaining public spaces and ensuring neighborhood safety. Keefer described the investment in Lower Allen Township as practical, promising tangible benefits.
Delozier emphasized the ecological advantages of funding allocated for composting equipment in Lower Allen Township, highlighting its utility for yard waste disposal. Gleim mentioned that the funding for Newville and North Middleton projects would support essential safety equipment for local police resources. Ecker echoed the importance of equipping police officers to maintain community safety.
Kutz spoke of the anticipated improvements in South Middleton through Keystone FC, focusing on tourism generation and providing youths with sporting venues. Davidson admired Rupley Park in Wormleysburg Borough, underscoring improvements funded by the grant that will benefit young families and elevate the area’s quality of life.
The Commonwealth Financing Authority, an agency within the Department of Community and Economic Development, provided the funding. The CFA distributes gaming revenues from Category 4 licensed facilities to support projects benefiting host counties.
