Grant funding has been awarded to several first responder companies in the 87th Legislative District under the PA Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program. Rep. Thomas Kutz (R-Cumberland) announced that nine fire companies and ambulance squads in his district have received grants from the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.
The grants can be used for various purposes such as construction and renovations, equipment purchases or repairs, and reducing existing debt. Kutz expressed his appreciation for the hard work and dedication of firefighters and EMS personnel, many of whom are volunteers. He stated, “This grant program is one way we can show our gratitude to our first responders, while equipping them with the funds they need to do their job safely and effectively.”
The companies that serve the 87th District and have been awarded grants are as follows:
– Citizens Fire Co. No. 1 of Mount Holly Springs: $28,979
– Lisburn Community Fire Company: $14,617
– Lower Allen Township EMS: $15,000
– Lower Allen Township Fire Department: $16,368
– Monroe Fire Co.: $16,951
– Silver Spring Ambulance and Rescue Association: $15,000
– Silver Spring Community Fire Co.: $16,173
– Upper Allen Township Fire Department: $13,061
– Yellow Breeches EMS: $15,000
It is important to note that the funding for these grants comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner. The funds are derived from the proceeds of slot machine gaming and not from General Fund tax revenue.
However, the funding amounts are contingent on the recipients filing their grant agreements with the Office of State Fire Commissioner.
