About 23.2 percent of the 825 degrees and certificates handed out by Messiah College in 2017-18 were to students in health professions and related programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency’s National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Mechanicsburg conferred 100 bachelor’s degrees and 67 master’s degrees in health professions and related programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor’s degree in general engineering. Data shows the school gave out 72 bachelor’s degrees in general engineering, followed by 60 master’s degrees in “other” health professions and related clinical sciences and 38 bachelor’s degrees in registered nursing/registered nurse.

The college enrolled 3,375 students for 2017-18, including 2,734 in undergraduate programs and 641 in graduate programs.
